Give yourself the gift of good health this holiday season by making smart nutritional choices. The week leading up to the end of the holidays and the new year can be a tough time to eat healthily. But did you know that recent research indicates the foods you eat can actually affect your likelihood of getting sick?
Why it matters:
Inflammation can be linked to your daily food choices, and chronic inflammation has been associated with everything from cancer to heart disease and even arthritis. However, by choosing the right foods, you can not only reduce your risk of disease but also lower the prevalence of inflammation in your body.
The foods you eat can increase or decrease the inflammatory disease process.
Fried foods, refined carbohydrates, and sugary drinks cause inflammation and have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease.
Fruits and vegetables are rich in natural antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties.
