Staying up late one night usually only results in feeling a little tired the next day, but when this happens day after day, it can start to negatively impact your life. Research has shown that a lack of adequate sleep can lead to irritability, increased stress, a weakened immune system, and even joint pain. However, by developing some healthy habits, you can ensure your mind and body get the rest they deserve, so you're ready for a productive day.
Why it's important:
Practicing better nighttime habits, such as turning off your electronic devices and reading a book, can help prepare your body for a good night's sleep. While some people prefer to sleep with the television on, researchers have found that minimizing background noise can help your brain rest more. In our own office, we've also heard from numerous patients who sleep better after receiving an adjustment, which makes sense considering the many benefits of chiropractic care.
Some tips:
Relax for approximately 30 minutes before going to sleep by turning off your electronic devices.
Minimize background noise to help your brain get the rest it deserves.
Many patients report having more restful sleep after receiving an adjustment.
