Vacation travel can be brutal on your body – spending long hours crammed into a small airplane seat can trigger a flare-up of lower back or neck pain. Even if you're traveling by car, be careful when lifting suitcases full of clothes and souvenirs. Proper spinal alignment can help your body function at its best!
Why it matters:
Your spine functions best when it has a balance of strength and flexibility. Chiropractic adjustments help your spine move comfortably through its full range of motion. Furthermore, when your spine is aligned and balanced, your muscles function more efficiently. Lifting excessive weight at awkward angles can put tremendous stress on your spine and cause injury. After a few hours of sitting still on a plane or in a car, your body isn't ready to immediately start lifting 50-pound suitcases. Prepare yourself and take a few moments during your trip to stretch, move around, and warm up before lifting heavy objects.
Stop by and get an adjustment before you go on vacation to improve how you feel and function.
If your flight lasts more than an hour, make sure to get up and stretch your legs.
Be careful and use your legs to lift when moving suitcases and gifts.
Next steps:
Many patients have told us that getting an adjustment before going on vacation helped them avoid a return of pain. Give your back a gift and consider coming in for an adjustment before you leave. From our family to yours, happy holidays!
